Hello Everyone,
Given that it is Indigenous Peoples Day (aka Columbus Day), I would like to share some resources and thoughts. First, I would like to start by acknowledging the traditional territory of the Haudenosaunee and by honoring the sovereignty of the Six Nations–the Mohawk, Cayuga, Onondaga, Oneida, Seneca, and Tuscarora–and their land where SUNY Empire State College is situated. In this acknowledgment, I hope to demonstrate respect for the treaties that were made on these territories and remorse for the harms and mistakes of the far and recent past. Second, I would also like to remind the college community about the Global Indigenous Knowledge(GIK) certificate (new this Fall) and share with you all some resources and activities related to Indigenous peoples. Invitation to Upcoming GIK Panel #2: Please join us for the second panel discussion focused on "African Diaspora and Indigeneity" on Thursday (10/15) 6-8pm in Zoom.
